NPTI is planning to start e-Learning MBA program in Power Management through Distance Education
and also one year Executive MBA program in Power Management to facilitate larger availability of
qualified and trained manpower in the power sector. NPTI is also planning to start new training
programs on Renewables through Public Private Partnership Model at its Regional Centres.
NPTI is serving the Power Sector in the field of training for the last four decades. The existing infrastructure and training aid facilities have become very old and obsolete. In order to cope up with the ever increasing demand of training in the Power Sector, the existing infrastructure needs to be renovated and upgraded into latest state-of-the-art technology so that the trainees can be kept abreast with the latest technology in a world class environment. A Scheme for Renovation & Modernisation of existing Institutes of NPTI at an estimated cost of Rs.29,679 lakhs has been proposed for approval during 12th Five Year Plan.
As per the CEA Regulation of Sept-2010 all the personnel engaged in Operation & Maintenance in the areas of Generation, Transmission & Distribution needs to be trained. In order to meet this mandatory requirement, it is essential to augment the existing Institutes of NPTI. Accordingly, a Scheme to augment the existing Institutes of NPTI at an estimated cost of Rs. 45,000 lakhs has been proposed for approval during 12th Five Year Plan.
Keeping in view the forthcoming requirement of trained manpower in the Power Sector especially of the Southern States, it is proposed to set up a Power Training Institute at Alappuzha, Kerala at an estimated cost of Rs.4828 lakhs.
